ARC-rally is one of the year's highlights, this year's rally was the start located on the square in Uppsala. Starting Friday night had Almunge made this a two-day competition do not know if this is good, it will go a lot more time to run a few short stages in Friday night.
But the weather was great, after a week with half-bad weather, the sun was shining and the atmosphere was at its peak. SS 1 a short stage outside of Uppsala, I think we had run about 500 yards before it was time for a road jungtion, Robin informed me of it in time but I got same brain release came too fast in and saw that this would never go, and it did not. We hit same concrete foundation with the right front wheel, and pressed the bumper in to the wheel, I thought the drive shaft went for it sounded bloody awful but the car went running, so we drive on, and it did not seem to be any great danger a little difficult to turn right but we took us to the end of the stage 28 seconds after fastest time in the class who was Jonas Gustavsson (what else).
We try to fix what we could and went off to the SS 2 a new section that has not been in this rally before, a nice fun winding road, the driving worked fine but the car died several times at full throttle its felt like petrol stop, but when you let up the gas the engine came back.
And so it went on the hole stage out but we still had a great time 2.8 seconds from the fastest time, I tried on the road section to the SS 3 to raise the fuel pressure a bit and on to SS 3, everything worked now, we had a little incident, I came too fast over a crest and slid into the ditch, but whit same luck I fix it all up, we won the stage with 4 seconds ahead of Jonas shortly thereafter came Frederik Ekendahl in third place.
Now it was time to going through the car in service and then put the car in Park Farmé over night, we slept at home, save on hotels, it's not so far to Stockholm from Almunge. Up at: 6.00 and go up to Almunge again, first stage SS 4 was 22 km with mixed surfaces, fine public road mixed with rocky road with grass in the middle I go as fast as I cuold and dared and we got a wery good time, we began to approach the lead, now we were up in third place.

Here could our rally ended.
I still had sights set on victory SS 5 was a stage as been around for a couple of years now and you begin to recognize the corners, the car started behaving strangely did not give full power and water temp rose a little over what it usually does. We won the stage a few seconds before Frederik, anyway it turned out that a rod to the altenator had been released in the weld, probably an accompanying loss of our crach the day before? We had no service before the next stage, so we buckled up with plastic stripes and hoped it would work to the next service, we did a pretty bad stage concentration was not on top, we got the second time 3 seconds after Jonas.
Now waiting 45 minutes of service, we unscrew that which was broken, I sent away Mickael Ence to find a welding and repair the rod, Ingmar Dahl and I did everything else necessary Mikey came back with new velded rod, we had some problems to get it back but eventually everything was back in place, then we went off to the SS 7, which was the same long stage as SS 4 22 km, once again, this time it was really difficult, lots of large stones had arrived after almost 100 cars have passed before. I thought several times that we would destroy the car, after a mile or so we caught up whit a previous runner a Opel Kadett from our neighbor Finland, he had been stopped in the middle of the road . I had no choice, either stop or try to get past, I was hoping that the ditch would be free from stones or anything that could destroy our rally even more.
It worked, but the car did not like it enymore, I had to sit and pump the throttle to get it going, If I hade the trottle left in bottom the engine died again (lycky I am an old drummer) after another few kilometers we came up with the next car and got lie in the dust after him all the way to the end of the stage, we lost offcurse more time, but there are things that happen. We had at anyway a good time 3.5 seconds after Jonas is nothing to complain about, the other was pretty far behind so now we had second place pretty clear. It turned out on the service that the layer of water pump that sits integrated with the alternator got too much stress when the rod went by and it started to leak water, which of course sprayed up on the distributor so the car went like a bag of shit. We taped up the distibutor whit plastic and duct tape and set off to SS 8, but the car would not go as it should now either, we started to lose plenty of time 20 seconds on SS 8 and 18 seconds on the SS 9th.
Before the last stage we had some extra time so I changed the spark plugs and wrapped toilette paper around the water pump and hoped that it could go a little better, well inside the TK-area where it is not allowed to touch the car someone in the audience tolt as that we have bad air in the right front tire (damn shit puncture) we had no choice, only to run as fast as we could with who was available, we knew that it was pretty hard between Frederik and me for second place. I drive as fast I dared but the car was hard to drive in left turns, but we got a third time on the stage 5 seconds after a good running Fredrik Ekendahl who won the last stage.
We finished in third place, 8 seconds after Frederik Ekendahl, Jonas Gustavsson won yet again. We may still be quite happy with this after a tough rally. Directly after the ceremony we went off home, with same quick food and directly into town for the next challenge Midnattsloppet 10 kilometers of running, it was a big festival inside Stockholm, and the running went better than expected, I ran for 50 minutes and 30 seconds and came on 4.300 place of 24.000 starters it was my first time I tried this but it whetted the appetite.
